Tiger Sharks Club Training is back on Thursday September 1st
Welcome back to all Tiger Sharks swimmers, parents/guardians and coaches. We all look forward to seeing everyone back in the pool for a great year of swimming.
Training will take place as usual on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 - 8:30 PM, and on Saturday from 8:00 – 9:30:
We are no longer operating under the same Covid restrictions forced upon us last year. Parents/guardians are encouraged to watch the training sessions from the spectator area.
Parents will be required to participate in a Parent On Duty roster to oversee all swimming sessions. The sessions will be cancelled if no parent is available.
The Duty Roster will be created and posted on the Club website at https://www.tgsk.ie/member-info/parent-rota-duty
As we begin the new swimming year, there are some housekeeping tasks that need to be done.
Information on the 2022 Fee structure and Tiger Sharks bank details are available at https://www.tgsk.ie/member-info/fees-registration
All swimmers and parents/guardians must review and complete the following forms which are available at https://www.tgsk.ie/member-info/club-forms
All swimmers must complete a Club Registration form for the coming year
2022 Code of Conduct must be reviewed and signed.
Note: There are separate forms for swimmers, parents/guardians, coaches and committee members
New way of Operating
Operating under the new Covid protocols means a very different set up for our Club this year. We will share a detailed operational document (how the sessions will run /what it will look like for swimmers, parents and pool) with you before we start back next week, but for now, you will find below some key updates to give you a flavor of how things have changed, and to help you plan ahead.
Some Key Changes in our ‘New Norm’:
• Only 3 swimmers per lane is now allowed
• Our max capacity per session/night is 18 swimmers. This is only 50% of our typical, normal capacity which clearly impacts the number of sessions per swimmer, as well as Club revenue.
• We need to adhere to a certain gender mix ratio for each session to adhere to changing room protocols
• Adhering to such guidelines means we need to factor in gender, ability levels, and numbers so the session configuration is a complex exercise. Our plan for our first term, Sept - Oct is outlined on the table below. This is our ‘starting’ plan and may evolve over time. We appreciate this may pose logistics challenges for some families with multiple swimmers of varying abilities now swimming on separate nights. Adhering to the guidelines so we can gain access back to the pool and kick-off our season speedily is our priority at this stage. We will fine tune and evolve the session configuration over time.
• Parents must remain ‘local’ / in vicinity of pool in case a swimmer falls sick during a session
• Sign in/sign out protocol will now include a Covid disclaimer. Sign in will now be completed at entrance to pool (No access to spectator area permitted)
• The new ‘sign-in’ sheets will be sent to all parents before our season kick-off on 15thSept. For the night you are the designated Parent on Duty, you will need to bring that sign-in sheet along with you. We would hope to ultimately get this set up electronically so watch this space!
• Each club needs to appoint a trained Covid officer – Claire Devitt has kindly agreed to assume this role
• A one way system will be in place at the pool
• Post session showers are no longer possible. Swimmers will arrive for their session in their swim kit, and exit once changed into dry clothes (time spent in changing rooms to be kept to a minimum)
• Equipment: such as flippers, pull buoy, float, hand paddles have to be sanitized before each session. It is no longer possible to avail of such equipment from the pool either - each swimmer to bring their own
• Other guidelines we need to adhere her include: no late entrants allowed to join a session ; use of starting blocks is not permitted; swimmers cannot move lanes within a session; there are specific guidelines on what stroke sequence swimmers need to follow (freestyle, then breast, then fly …)
Last but not least, to help ALL parents transit to this new norm, we will hold a 30 minute training/discussion on Tuesday , Wednesday , & Thursday nights next week. We will hold it in Canon Hayes Sports Complex so hope to see you all their on the first night your child starts back.
We are looking forward to a different but fun season ahead for all our TigerShark Swimmers.
Many Thanks

Hello All,
Given the current public health concerns associated with Covid-19 virus, we are asking all members to follow self-isolation guidance.
See below some initial guidance from Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC).
Swimmers and/or parents who have recently travelled to infection zones should not return to training until 14 days have passed and no flu like symptoms present.
See HSE recommendations (see: https://www.hpsc.ie/a-z/respiratory/coronavirus/novelcoronavirus/traveladvice/).
This measure is for the is for the protection of all our swimmers and their family members.
